Charlie Thinks – 2.16.12
Well another mild week here in town. I went over to the Community Center to see if they would open the outdoor pool since it was so warm, but they shot me down pretty quick. I was going to try to sneak over there one night for a moonlight swim, but I was afraid that when it really cooled down at night I might get frozen into the pool and they’d find me the next morning with just my head sticking out of the ice. Not a good idea.
The talent Show at Shelledy was so much fun to go to. Those kids worked so hard on their show and it really paid off. They’re all so cute and so talented… kinda like me without the furry exterior.
I’m almost ready for the Sweetheart Run and expo on Saturday at the Community Center. I’ve been training hard and I think I might come in first in the old feline category. I know…I know…I’ll probably be the only entrant, but I’ll still win…as long as I can finish while I’m still breathing. Luckily Family Health West will have a booth at the expo and I’m sure that if I need help, having medical staff of some sort there will come in handy.
I’ll have to take a nap in the afternoon after the race since I’ll be up partying all night at the Annual Chamber Banquet with all the amazingly fun people who run businesses here. There’s supposed to be great music, good food, and a silent auction. I tried to donate some mice I caught in the alley to the auction, but apparently I’m the only one attending who likes them, so when they turned me down I just took them home. It’s possible I might dress up in the 50s attire that they are requesting we do for the theme of the banquet, but I’m not sure that I want to be seen in a poodle skirt. I’d be shunned by cats everywhere and labeled as a traitor. Not so good.
Anyway, I’m sure it’ll be fun no matter what I wear. Everyone always has a great time there every year. I’ll make sure I include some photos next week of everyone all dressed up. I’m still hoping we can avoid winter here altogether but it’s a long shot, so get out there while you can and enjoy the nice weather. Spring is coming soon, and I’m ready to hit up that outdoor pool as soon as it opens this summer. See you next week, Fruita!
