New stickers promoting Fruita already popular
By Debbie Roberts
Fruita locals Steve and Denise Hight came up with an idea to help drum up some commerce for Fruita, hoping to get Fruita’s name out there. Their idea worked.
In the first two weeks, 500 of the stickers with the “WTF (Welcome to Fruita)” logo were already taken.
The Hights, who have given the logo to Jane DuJardin at Sew What? in Fruita, say that they have had amazingly positive feedback and are taking it to the city to see if they are going to use it in some of their promotions. While the acronym is generally associated with an expletive term, the Hights believe that this will grab people’s attention and help bring people here. With a limited budget every year, it’s sometimes difficult to market Fruita to the masses, and the Hights feel that something catchy like this is just the ticket.
They are already ordering another batch of stickers to pass around, including bike stickers, and are more than willing to give the logo to any local business who may want to have other items, such as hats or shirts made to sell or give away in their stores.
Welcome To Fruita stickers are available free at many Fruita businesses, and more stickers, including little ones for bikes, are coming soon! To buy Welcome To Fruita T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, coffee mugs and more, stop in at Sew What? at 163 N. Park Square. Other businesses can also contact Steve Hight at 858-6375 to get the necessary files to make your own batches of promotional items.
