Buck Wins Fruita Mayoral Race
Lori Buck, a Fruita native and six-year member of the Fruita City Council, was elected mayor Tuesday
night with a strong victory over fellow Council member Terry Moss.
Buck won 1,463 votes, or 55 percent, to 1,181, or 45 percent, for Moss
Fruita voters resoundingly decided to ban medical marijuana shops by a vote of 2,044-754. It leaves
Palisade, 35 miles to the east, as the only community in the Grand Junction area to allow pot shops.
They also agreed strongly with continuing to retain city revenues above TABOR limits, 2,136-630. The
money will be dedicated to capital construction projects.
Buck said she was “very pleased’’ with the outcome and said she’d continue to work hard for the city.
