Police Report
Officers responded to the 1800 block of Hwy. 6 & 50 to a report of an assault and determined it was a child custody issue.
MAY 5
Trespass and theft was reported in the 200 block of W. Roberson Drive. A juvenile male, 13, was issued a summons for trespass and attempted theft in the amount of $150.
Officers responded to St. Mary’s Hospital where robbery and assault were reported in the 500 block of W. Aspen Avenue.
MAY 6
Officers responded to E. Carolina Avenue and 18 Road and contacted a male, 19, for minor in possession of alcohol. He was issued a summons for minor in possession of alcohol.
MAY 7
A theft was reported in the 900 block of Tower Court. A 40-year-old male was arrested for suspicion of theft and taken to Mesa County Detention Facility.
A property damage traffic accident occurred at Hwy. 6 & 50 and E. Grand Avenue.
MAY 8
A set of keys, which included a Ford key, the auto opener minus the battery, three additional keys with a silver charm on a silver chain, was found in the area of Applewood and N. Maple Street. The keys were booked into evidence as found property.
Officers were called to Fruita Monument High School for a reported burglary, auto theft, and first degree criminal trespass. Three male students, 16, stole a 1998 Subaru from the student parking lot after obtaining keys from a gym locker. The case has been turned over to the District Attorney’s office pending charges.
Burglary occurred in the 500 block of W. Aspen Avenue. Unknown subjects unlawfully entered the residence numerous times over the past two months taking an estimated $1,000 throughout the time period.
Officer was dispatched to a reported death in the 1500 block of Aquarius. Rescue Squad personnel from the Lower Valley Fire Department responded and checked for any signs of life but were unable to locate any.
MAY 9
An animal complaint was received from Dean Court and Wildwood Drive where an aggressive Labrador type dog was at large. Animal Control responded and took possession of the dog. The owner was given a warning regarding his dog at-large.
MAY 10
Officers responded to a verbal disturbance in the 800 block of E. Ottley Avenue.
MAY 11
A resident in the 300 block of S. Pine Street found pieces of two old firearms in the middle of the street and brought them to the Fruita Police Department.
Officers responded to the 1200 block of E. Carolina Avenue on a report of an attempted burglary. The victim reported unknown person(s) used a knife to pry at a window and broke an outdoor table with estimated damage of $250. There are no suspects at this time.
Officers responded to Family Health West ER. A dog bite was reported to have occurred at Reed Park earlier in the day.
A 44-year-old male was arrested in the 100 block of Peter Drive and charged with suspicion of third degree assault domestic violence after he hit his wife causing her pain.
MAY 12
A two-vehicle property damage traffic accident occurred in the Hwy. 340 roundabout. No summons was issued.
MAY 13
A report was received from the 700 block of Silver Plume Drive concerning harassing communication by a known subject. The subject was contacted and warned that future incidents would result in criminal prosecution.
Officers contacted a juvenile male, 14, at Comstock Drive and W. Ottley Avenue for driving without any headlights on. He was later arrested after eluding police for second degree auto theft, eluding, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, reckless endangerment, child abuse, reckless driving and driving without a valid license.
