By Tim Merris
Fruita Chamber of Commerce Board President John Burwell and Vice President Tom Oliver contacted the Fruita Times this week to update the community and their members on the state of the Chamber office. Burwell stated that the board wants to look at the Chamber organization completely from top to bottom. They feel it is important to have the chamber office running at full efficiency before naming a new Chamber Director.
He went on to say that no decision has been made on the position of Chamber Director at this time. Shauna Davies, the interim Director will continue to act as Director until further notice. Davies has been with the Chamber more than six years.
Burwell then stated the Board of Directors is looking at all aspects of the chamber operations including staffing, procedures, assignments of workload and general office protocol. He said the board is not necessarily looking to make changes but just want to be assured the office is using all of its resources to better serve its members.
He said that business is as usual at this time and the membership is welcome to stop in the office during business hours if they should have any questions or concerns. He also stated that “all of the Board members are working hard to complete this task and that he expects that a permanent Director and any changes will be implemented sometime near the end of October.
