Medical Fund Established To Help Wanda Valencia

Wanda Valencia, who is known around town for her and husband Alex’s vast garden knowledge and willingness to help others, is now in need of assistance herself.

Valencia is currently in Thornton at the Haven Behavioral Center receiving treatment for extreme anxiety.

Valencia taught social studies and reading at Fruita Middle School for 20 years and has been a Fruita resident since 1960. She has worked with the City of Fruita in the past and has written a gardening column for the Fruita Times for several years.

The couple’s walls bear plaques proclaiming gratitude for their help for being on the “Tree Board,” “Lawn and Garden Board,” and “Parks and Recreation Board.”  They voluntarily join these boards because they to encourage people to beautify their gardens and the community.

Now is our turn to return the favor.  Donations to help the Valencias cover medical expenses in their time of need can be made at any Western Rockies Federal Credit Union under the name Alex and Wanda Valencia.
