Police Report
The following items were selected from reports made to the Fruita Police Department:
JUNE 18
Officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 500 block of Comstock Drive.
A theft was reported in the 1200 block of E. Carolina Avenue. Patio furniture valued at $40 was removed from a residence. A 19-year-old male was issued a summons for theft, third degree trespass, and criminal mischief.
An unknown driver struck a parked vehicle at 135 S. Plum Street and left the scene without notifying the owner of the parked vehicle.
JUNE 19
A female reported a male neighbor in the 800 block of E. Ottley Avenue was harassing her. Investigation was unable to substantiate the complaint. Both parties were advised to not contact each other.
A citizen in the 100 block of S. Sycamore Street reported concerns with neighbors and the property manager.
JUNE 24
Unknown person(s) damaged a trailer in the 200 block of Red Cliffs Drive, causing over $100 in damage.
JUNE 25
Theft was reported in the 100 block of E. Aspen Avenue when a female called a Fruita business and demanded a refund for a product that she never purchased. The female then came to the business and attempted to pick up the refund but left prior to receiving the refund. The case is under investigation.
JUNE 29
A citizen reported a fraudulent charge on his checking account. The charge occurred in California in the amount of $67.58.
An iPod valued at $200 was reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of N. Coulson Street.
JUNE 30
A black 2002 Ford F250 supercab valued at $6,000 was reported stolen from the 200 block of W. Roberson Drive.
JULY 1
A suspicious incident was reported in the 500 block of W. Pabor Way. The reporting party wished to make a report regarding an issue with his daughter.
Officer responded to an animal-at-large complaint in the 600 block of Kaley Street. A 24-year-old female was issued a summons to appear in Municipal Court.
Theft from auto was reported in the 500 block of Pisces Lane.
Officers contacted a suicidal juvenile female in the 800 block of E. Ottley Avenue. The girl was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital.
A suicidal male, age 75, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital.
JULY 2
Officers responded to a protection order violation in the 100 block of Sunset Drive. A 21-year-old male was issued a summons for protection order violation.
A report of a possible suicidal subject was taken and the case is under investigation.
JULY 3
A 37-year-old male and a 31-year-old female were both arrested in the 800 block of Elberta Drive on suspicion of third degree assault. Both were booked into the Mesa County Jail.
A person reported a ring missing from his home in the 300 block of Belden Court.
A bike was found abandoned on the sidewalk in the 100 block of N. Cherry Street.
Officers issued a summons to a 26-year-old male for driving under revocation in the area of 19 Rd. and Hwy. 6 & 50.
An unknown person drove his vehicle into an unattended vehicle at the Fruita Community Center and then left making no attempt to contact the vehicle’s owner. The case is under investigation.
JULY 4
Unknown person(s) stole mountain bike wheels valued at $600 from a bike which was locked in a bike rack in the 100 block of N. Willow St.
Person(s) unknown put sugar in the fuel tank of a boat in the 400 block of Amethyst Drive. Damage is estimated at less than $500.
A 29-year-old female was issued a summons for having a dog at large after officers responded to the 900 block of Bayberry Court for a verbal disturbance.
JULY 5
Officers responded to a dog bite report in the 1100 block of E. Carolina Avenue involving a juvenile girl who was bitten by the neighbor’s dog. The incident is under investigation.
JULY 6
A black wallet was reported missing, possibly lost in the area of the Fruita Maverik convenience store.
Identity theft was reported and is under investigation.
Report of suspicious Internet activity was taken.
A 21-year-old male was arrested in the 100 block of Sunset Dr. for violation of a protection order. He was booked into the Mesa County Jail.
Officer responded to the 300 block of N. Coulson Street to a report of a cell phone stolen. The cell phone was recovered and the victim does not wish to prosecute. The case is closed.
A possible sex assault was reported in the 800 block of Delean Way. The case is currently under investigation.
JULY 7
Officers responded to the 700 block of Placer Drive to reports of two juvenile boys, 13 and 16, breaking into cars. One boy was arrested after he was spotted entering unlocked vehicles. Officers were unable to locate the second boy. Charges are pending for both.
A 33-year-old male was arrested for domestic violence third degree assault, obstruction of a telephone service, violation of a protection order, and violation of restrictions on his driver’s license, as well as two outstanding warrants. This occurred in the 100 block of Bonnie Vista Dr. after officers responded to an assault. He was booked into the Mesa County Jail.
A one-vehicle property damage traffic accident occurred at Kings View Road and Snooks open space.
Officer contacted a suspicious vehicle in the area of a noise complaint at S. Maple Street and E. Concord Drive. A 19-year-old male was issued a summons for possession of ethyl alcohol by an underage person.
JULY 8
Officers responded to the 500 block of Sabil Drive on a report of a theft from auto. There are no suspects at this time.
A report was taken of an unknown adult male knocking on the victim’s door in the 100 block of E. Lexington Way. A 19-year-old male was charged with minor in possession of alcohol.
JULY 9
A juvenile male reported his blue iPod valued at $200 was stolen from the Fruita Community Center. There is possible suspect information and the incident is under investigation.
