The City of Fruita and Mesa County invite community members to attend a public open house on Wednesday, Aug. 15 from 4-6 p.m. at the Fruita Community Center to provide input on the proposed Fremont Street Trail project.
The City of Fruita and Mesa County are planning to construct a bicycle/pedestrian trail along the 18½ Road (also known as Fremont Street) corridor between J Rd. and Ottley Ave. (K Rd.) in the fall of 2012. This trail will provide an alternate route for bicycle and pedestrian users to get to Rimrock Elementary School, Fruita Monument High School and the Fruita 8-9 School that will reduce potential for conflicts with motorized traffic. This project will also help Fruita work towards having a trail network in place that will increase pedestrian circulation and provide alternate transportation options. The City of Fruita and Mesa County are seeking input to ensure that the trail is designed and built in the safest, most efficient manner possible, while respecting private property rights and addressing the concerns of citizens in the process.
The Fruita Community Center is located at 324 N Coulson in Fruita. For more information about the open house, or about the Fremont Street Trail project, please call the Fruita Engineering Department at 970-858-8377.
