Police Report

The following items were selected from reports  made to the Fruita Police Department:

AUG. 21

Officers investigated possible criminal mischief when a vehicle was damaged in the 200 block of Red Cliffs Drive.

AUG. 24

A 10-year-old boy was out of control at school, 353 N. Mesa Street, and struck a teacher, an adult female, causing annoyance. No charges were filed.

AUG. 27

Officers responded to a report of a hit and run traffic accident at 278 N. Plum Street causing $500 in damage. There are currently no suspects.

AUG. 28

A 12-year-old boy was reported as a runaway but was found and returned to his guardian.

AUG. 29

Officers contacted a 34-year-old male at E. Pabor Avenue and 18 Road for driving with a suspended license. He was also charged with distributing Schedule II substances, possession of Schedule II substances, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and a restraining order violation.

AUG. 30

Officers responded to an injury accident involving a car and a bicycle at N. Park Square and E. Aspen Avenue.

An elderly man in the 900 block of S. Pine Street was defrauded of over $2,000.

AUG. 31

The owners at 182 Woodstock Street received a warning for animal at-large.

SEPT. 1

Theft was reported at JD’s Tavern where $80 was taken from a vehicle.

Two juveniles were walking on N. Mulberry Street and E. Ottley Avenue after consuming alcohol. The 16-year-old girl was issued a summons for minor in possession/consumption. A juvenile petition was requested for the 16-year-old boy for false reporting, obstruction of a peace office, and minor in possession/consumption of alcohol.

Officers responded to several reports of theft from autos in the 300 block of Peach Way.

Officers responded to a report of a restraining order violation in the 100 block of Sierra Drive. Through investigation, the incident was later proved unfounded.

Theft was reported in the 200 block of N. Peach Street where $160 in personal items were removed for an unsecured vehicle.

SEPT. 2

A 31-year old, in the 100 block of  Sierra Drive, was arrested after he knowingly violated a protection order.

An unknown person caused under $500 in damage to a vehicle in the 1100 block of E. Carolina Avenue by breaking the windshield.

Officers investigated criminal mischief of a residence and vehicle in the 1000 block of E. Aspen Avenue.

A 51-year old male, in the 100 block of Sunset Drive, was involved in a REDDI report and was arrested and charged with DUI.

Officers responded to the 400 block of Holly Park Drive on a reported hit and run accident. The victim’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 in damage.

SEPT. 3

Officers responded to 595 Hwy. 340 to assist Colorado State Parks with a combative male and female.

A welfare check was made in the 800 block of E. Ottley Avenue.

Officers contacted a fugitive from justice, a 26-year-old male, in the 500 block of E. Aspen Avenue. He was arrested for resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, a restraining order violation and two failure to appear warrants. The warrants were for third degree assault, $1,000, out of Mesa County and obstructing a peace officer, $500, out of Mesa County.

Criminal tampering was reported in the 100 block of Sunset Drive. The case is under investigation.

A 30-year-old woman was issued a summons for careless driving after officers responded to a two-vehicle accident at N. Maple Street/E. Ottley Avenue.

SEPT. 4

A burglary occurred in the 500 block of Pabor Way when unknown person(s) unlawfully entered a residence causing in excess of $500 in damage.

Officers responded to a report of stolen medications involving the postal service at 113 N. Park Square.

An expired rear license plate was stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of Redbud Court.

A 36-year-old female, in the 100 block of  Red Rocks Street, was arrested after she knowingly and unlawfully caused bodily injury to an adult male by biting and scratching.

SEPT. 5

Officer took a report of a dog receiving bodily injuries from a known dog in the 1100 block of Powell Street.

SEPT. 6

Officers responded to the 300 block of N. Coulson Street to a report of property damage totaling $2,000. No charges were filed.

A 54-year-old male was arrested in the 600 block of E. Harrison Avenue for violating a protection order and menacing after he threatened the victim.

A 17-year-old male runaway was contacted at Amethyst Drive and Agate Court by a Fruita officer. The juvenile was returned to his grandmother.

SEPT. 7

A dog bite was reported in the 1400 block of Sagittarius Street. A 39-year-old female was issued a summons for dog at large.

SEPT. 8

Officer responded to the 1100 block of 18 Road to a dog at large complaint at Little Salt Wash Park. A female chocolate Labrador was turned over to Mesa County Animal Control.

An assault occurred in the 400 block of W. Ottley Avenue. A 38-year-old male was arrested for third degree assault after he repeatedly struck his wife.

SEPT. 9

Officers responded to a report of the theft of approximately $4,000 from the weekend collection of money from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 513 E. Aspen Avenue.

A private property motor vehicle accident occurred at City Market, 135 S. Plum Street.

A 55-year-old male, in the 600 block of E. Harrison Avenue, was contacted and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

SEPT. 10

A parent in the 800 block of Greenway Drive reported a violation of a parenting plan/order. The incident was determined to be civil.

A suicidal juvenile male was contacted and transported to Colorado West.
