Police Report

The following items were selected from reports made to the Fruita Police Department:

DEC. 4

A 12-year-old girl was issued a summons for theft on suspicion of taking a sweater valued at $20 from another. She was released to her parent.

Person(s) unknown stole several saddles valued at over $1,000 from a residence in the 500 block of Garnet Drive during an eviction. There is possible suspect information.

DEC. 10

Department of Human Services received a cold report of a possible sexual assault on a child that occurred in Fruita city limits sometime in 2011. The case was forwarded to the Fruita Police Department and is under investigation.

DEC. 11

A drug violation in the 1800 block of J Road was discovered when a 15-year-old boy was found in possession of a controlled substance.

DEC. 12

An unknown man left a vehicle unattended while fueling at 1650 Hwy. 6&50. The vehicle popped out of gear and damaged a gas pump. The driver left the scene without reporting the accident.

A juvenile petition is being requested on a 13-year-old boy at 1835 J Road on suspicion of being in possession of Schedule II controlled substances while at school.

Officers responded to an agency assist of a REDDI report in the 1600 block of 18 Road. A 26-year-old female was arrested for DUI, DUI per se, possession of an alcoholic container in a vehicle, no insurance, and displaying fictitious license plates.

Abandoned dogs were reported in the 1000 block of E. Grand Avenue. Both dogs were impounded at Mesa County Animal Services.

DEC. 13

An unknown suspect entered a residence in the 1100 block of Locust Street and damaged items valued at over $1,000.

A citizen reported that someone had used her personal identifying information in an attempt to obtain credit.

DEC. 14

Officers took a two-vehicle non-injury accident report which occurred at 353 N. Mesa Street.

Officers responded to the 700 block of Yew Street on a welfare check.

DEC. 17

A Fruita resident sent $1,425.32 to a fraudulent company who was threatening him.

Someone broke the outer pane of a double-pane window in the 700 block of Sabil Drive causing $250 in damage.

Trespass was reported in the 900 block of E. Pabor Avenue. An unknown man broke in through the front door and left when police were called.

Theft occurred in the 200 block of Honeysuckle Circle. Clothing, jewelry and a cell phone valued at $585 were taken by a known suspect. The case is under investigation.

A nine-year-old boy reported another nine-year-old assaulted him at the skate park. No charges were filed as the suspect is underage.

Theft was reported at the Dollar General store. Employees at the store told officers that a man took items valued at $23.25. A 29-year-old male was issued a summons for theft.

A drug violation was reported at E. Pabor Avenue and N. Peach Street. A 15-year-old boy was issued a summons on suspicion of being in possession of drug paraphernalia and tobacco products.

DEC. 18

An assault was reported in the 300 block of N. Mesa Street. A juvenile allegedly struck another juvenile causing pain. The investigation was unable to substantiate the allegation and the case was dismissed without prejudice.

Person(s) unknown opened a J Crew credit card account and made purchases in the victim’s name in the amount of $1,241. There are no suspects at this time.

Clothing valued at $214 was taken from an unsecured vehicle parked in a driveway in the 200 block of Honeysuckle Circle.

DEC. 20

A 16-year-old boy was issued a summons for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at Fruita Monument High School.

Officers responded to Family Health West Hospital for an assist and later transported a woman to St. Mary’s Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

DEC. 22

Officers were dispatched to an address in the 500 block of Libra Way on a report of a disturbance. A man was detained and transported to Colorado Mental Health after he made several threats to family members.

Officers responded to the 700 block of Yew Street for a welfare check.

Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of 19 Road and K Road for not dimming headlights. A 27-year-old male was arrested for DUI, driving while revoked HTO, and failure to present insurance.

DEC. 23

A drug violation was reported in the 1600 block of Ruby Lee Drive. A 15-year-old boy was issued a summons for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officer took a theft report in the 300 block of N. Mesa Street of ceiling lights and fans valued at $1,668.66 being taken from a residence by a known person. The case is under investigation.

DEC. 24

An intoxicated man was reported in the 300 block of N. Maple Street. He was taken into custody and released to a sober party.

Officers responded to the 400 block of E. Hwy. 6&50 to an assault in progress. The victim, 25, advised that three people assaulted him in front of his business. While the assault was taking place one of the attackers referred to him as a “stupid fat Mexican.” The case is under investigation.

A traffic accident occurred at N. Coulson Street and W. Ottley Avenue when an unknown man slid on the slick roads, ran into a road sign, and left the scene without contacting police.

DEC. 26

An animal complaint was received from E. Cleveland Avenue and S. Cedar Street of a dangerous tan and white Terrier type dog. A 39-year-old female was issued a summons for dangerous animal and failure to control an animal.

Officers responded to a welfare check in the 900 block of E. Aspen Avenue.

DEC. 27

Officers responded to the 800 block of E. Ottley Avenue where a vehicle was found to have over $1,000 damage from a bullet.

DEC. 30

Officers arrested and charged an 18-year-old male at K Road and N. Mesa Street with DUI, careless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, no proof of insurance, and expired plates.

DEC. 31

Burglary occurred in the 300 block of N. Sycamore Street. Person(s) unknown unlawfully entered the victim’s attached garage and stole a pair of cross-country skis valued at $225. The skis were later located.

An officer responded to a hit and run accident at Park Street and J-2/10 Road where person unknown left the roadway and struck and damaged a vinyl fence causing damage and then fleeing the scene.
